The Hertfordshire County Championships 2014 is already underway!

Kicking off on 1st March with the distance events taking place at the Luton Inspire Village pool, Watford Swimmers secured medals in the Girls 800m (Silver -Yazii Brand-16 Year; Bronze - Sophie Burns (14 Year) & Rebecca Mackett (17 Year).  In the Boys 1500m event Oliver Taverner gained GOLD in the Boys 12 Year old category!   Congratulations to all the swimmers we had some terrific results and personal best times posted, we look forward to more to come over the next two weeks.

Rhianna BelgiumNot content with putting in the hours swimming, young Rhianna Patel is also a Red Belt in WTF Taekwondo! Last Sunday 2nd March, the family traveled to Tongeren in Belgium so that Rhianna could compete at the 31st Open Challenge Cup Kyorugi. A long journey and a very long day but well worth it as Rhianna won an impressive Gold trophy!

This was her first fight using the electronic Olympic style body protector, valuable experience for the future. Rhianna has been training in Taekwondo for 4 years at the B J Academy in Abbots Langley and already this year she won Gold in the NTC tournament in Nottingham in February. Congratulations Rhianna, good luck for your next competition; but save a bit for swimming!

The Youth National Swimming Championships has now drawn to a close, and our last training session took place yesterday (Sunday 4th August) which ends the season for us all to enjoy a well-earned summer break!

Many congratulations once again to our National swimmers;  Chloe Barrow, Oliver Taverner & Jack Spence.  You all did exceptionally well in your respected events and we are extremely proud of your achievements and dedication.

Chloe Barrow, today took the pool by storm in the Girls 14Yrs 100m Butterfly event.  Our dual swimmer from Kelly College has had a fantastic year already, consistently improving in all her events throughout the year, gaining NQT's in 3 Events.

Building on the excitement from yesterday, Chloe put in all-time best swim in her heats earlier today with a time of 1:02.80, closing the gap on the formidable Laura Stephens from Colchester who posted 1:02.43.

Entering the finals ranked second, Chloe managed to hold off the competition with a nail bitting finish to secure her first National Championship title - what a fantastic achievement, well done Chloe!

We wish you every success in your other events to come Laughing
